The first letter-writing after Running Down the Walls is typically one of celebration. This time, as it coincides with the ending of Ramadan, we will be sending Eid al-Fitr cards to our imprisoned Muslim comrades. We will send the cards a few days after our event to try and make sure they get there on or about June 15th.
Four days later, on Juneteenth, there is a call to #CaptureTheFlag. More information on that over at itsgoingdown.org
If you can’t make it to letter-writing, please take the time to send a card or letter from home. We have a guide to writing prisoners as well as one with mini-bios and addresses of the folks we support to make as easy as possible.
The deal, as always, is that you come bringing only yourself (and your friends and comrades), and we provide you with a delicious vegan meal, information about the prisoners as well as all of the letter-writing materials and prisoner-letter-writing info you could ever want to use in one evening. In return, you write a thoughtful letter to a political prisoner or prisoner of war of your choosing or, better yet, keep up a long-term correspondence. We’ll also provide some brief updates and pass around birthday cards for the PP/POWs whose birthdays fall in the next two weeks thanks to the PP/POW Birthday Calendar.
