The recent hunger strikes in Washington and Texas are only the latest in a string of protests, acts of civil disobedience, and direct actions to come out of the US anti-deportation movement.
This movement is dynamic and intricate, comprising large liberal nonprofits and NGOs, smaller and more radical groupings and individuals, and most importantly, the families and communities of those detained and deported. At the heart of it all is the desire to stop deportations and send the message that nobody is illegal.
This coming Saturday, a national day of action to stop deportation (#not1more), join a group of local activists for an informational discussion on what this movement is at the present moment, what it indicates for the future of class struggle, and how you can get involved.
