This 2019 South-Korean black-comedy thriller follows the destitute, clever Kim family as its members scheme to become employees of a wealthy, foolish couple (the Parks). They pose as highly-qualifies, unrelated individuals in order to secure various jobs from the Parks; then, things take a dark turn. Parasite combines witty, often hilarious dialogue with edge-of-your-seat suspense– oh, and tons of gore, too. Sometimes talked about as the “Korean Us,” it is a brilliant commentary on both class war and Western colonialism.
