Colombia has been in a state of uprising for over a week. On Thursday, November 21st, around 250,000 people took to the streets for a strike in response to the state’s proposed tax, labor and pension reforms. This developed into full blown ongoing uprisings and expropriations, in response to repressive state tactics, including killing one protestor, declaring a curfew, kidnapping and deporting Venezuelan participants.
November also marked the third anniversary of the Peace Agreement that Colombia signed with the FARC guerrillas, who carried out a 50 year insurgency against the state. However despite the agreement, right wing executions of leftists has continued.
People have been fighting back in these uprisings.
We will be speaking with the anti-fascists from ReVuelta Radio in Bogotá. They will be calling in to talk with us about what is happening on the ground and give us a radical perspective on the uprisings.
Left-wing uprisings in reaction to right wing policies and actions have recently erupted in Ecuador and Chile. We are continuing a series of discussions with comrades on the ground who can tell us what they are experiencing and can connect our struggle with theirs.
Come with questions you have about what’s happening!
